Irish Mixed

Another stressful night was had by our Irish Mixed Team last night in Galgorm who took on a very strong Moyola Team. Nothing separated the two teams all night but Antrim took an early lead with Michael and Kim winning the only match to end in regulation play. Next up was Jonathan and Audrey who finished all square after 18 and had to play 2 extra play off holes but both players battled hard and came out on top and gave Antrim a 2-0 lead. Adrian and Vickie also finished all square after 18 and had to head down the 1st again but unfortunately lost with the other team getting a birdie leaving the match 2-1. With two groups left and both all square Pete and Nanette thought they’d add to the stress and also finished all square, they headed down the 1st while Frankie and Jenny tee’d off down 18 all square. With the team nervously looking and hoping for just one more point to put Antrim into the semi-finals for the first time in the Irish Mixed they seen handshakes on the 1st green but had no idea who won, Pete and Nanette strolled up the fairway trying to play it all cool but Nanette buckled and the hands went up, this set Vickie off and was skipping and dancing up and down the fairway!!

A truly remarkable result for Antrim Golf Club

Antrim are now into the Semi Finals and will play Mahee Island or Ballybofey

Big thank you to all the team, especially team Captain Kim Fee

Good luck in the next round!!
