Irish Mix

The Irish Mixed team battled it out on Wednesday afternoon against Ballybofey at Roe Park. All the matches where extremely tight but unfortunately the run ended for Antrim but all players can hold their heads high as it was a remarkable run the team had, getting all the way to the Semi Final has never been done by our small club

I’m sure all members will agree they did a great job and did the club proud, and showed we are no easy team to take down

On behalf of the team we would like to thank Team Captain Kim Fee for all the support and hard work she did behind the scenes, we couldn’t have done it without you. We would also like to thank all the supporters who turned up at the matches, it was great to have some local support.

Roll on next year!!

Work On Greens During September

Please beware that we need to hollow cored the Greens at Allen park. This will take place from the 13th September of 2 or 3 days.  We are also over seeding the pitches and  Greens at the end of September.  We have intentionally left these later in the year to limit any disruption in playing time but unfortunately we can’t put these off any longer.

The Greens staff will be rolling and sanding the Greens on the same day as they are over seeded and cored

Irish Mixed

Another stressful night was had by our Irish Mixed Team last night in Galgorm who took on a very strong Moyola Team. Nothing separated the two teams all night but Antrim took an early lead with Michael and Kim winning the only match to end in regulation play. Next up was Jonathan and Audrey who finished all square after 18 and had to play 2 extra play off holes but both players battled hard and came out on top and gave Antrim a 2-0 lead. Adrian and Vickie also finished all square after 18 and had to head down the 1st again but unfortunately lost with the other team getting a birdie leaving the match 2-1. With two groups left and both all square Pete and Nanette thought they’d add to the stress and also finished all square, they headed down the 1st while Frankie and Jenny tee’d off down 18 all square. With the team nervously looking and hoping for just one more point to put Antrim into the semi-finals for the first time in the Irish Mixed they seen handshakes on the 1st green but had no idea who won, Pete and Nanette strolled up the fairway trying to play it all cool but Nanette buckled and the hands went up, this set Vickie off and was skipping and dancing up and down the fairway!!

A truly remarkable result for Antrim Golf Club

Antrim are now into the Semi Finals and will play Mahee Island or Ballybofey

Big thank you to all the team, especially team Captain Kim Fee

Good luck in the next round!!

Irish Mixed

Congratulations to our Irish Mixed team again, this time taking on Rockmount in round two. Not as straight forward as the pervious match.

Antrim lost the first match and won the second with the remaining 3 groups being all square or 1 up with only 3-4 holes remaining, it was all to play for and was any ones game. Group 4 headed up 17th 1 up and with soft hands Frankie chipping it near the pin sealed the deal and put Antrim into a 2-1 Lead. Group 3 headed down the 18th all square with Group 5 coming up 17th 1 up. Group 3 finished all square and headed down the 1st again while group 5 teed off down 18th still 1 up but then up steps wee Lady Captain Vickie and drills a lovely putt to end the 1st playoff hole ending the game 3-1 to Antrim.

Antrim are now into the Quarter Finals and will play Moyola or Carnalea

Big thank you to all the team, especially team Captain Kim Fee

Good luck in the next round!!

Allen Park Restaurant Update

Unfortunately Manns will be withdrawing the restaurant service at Allen Park during the week due to lack of custom and will only be opening on Saturdays and Sundays.  They will honour all existing bookings and will continue to take group/society bookings on a case by case basis.  Manns will be asking for bookings of no less than 15 people to make it cost effective.

This is unfortunate and disappointing news but no business can expect to run at a loss and sustain it for any great length of time.
